When Dr. Andrew Jelinek approached his parents (Drs. Yung and Jelinek) with a dream of going into dentistry, they were unsure if dentistry was what he truly wanted to pursue. Dr. Andrew’s determination and passion changed their mind, and he went on to graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry with his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2019.
During his time at school, Dr. Andrew Jelinek played NCAA Division III men’s ice hockey and was a member of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. He served as a teaching assistant and tutor and participated in community service activities like traveling to Jamaica to provide dental services to those in need, coordinating the Virginia Dental Association Foundation’s Mission of Mercy (MoM) projects, and founding the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter at Hamilton College. He also volunteered with Project Homeless Connect, Third Church (media team), and Redeemer Anglican Church (children’s ministry).
Amidst all of his extracurricular activities, Dr. Andrew served as a dental assistant to his parents. He observed procedures, worked with an incredible team of hygienists and assistants, and performed all of the dental duties of an assistant, like doing cleanings, creating interim crowns, and more.
Dr. Andrew has been described as thorough and meticulous by his patients. They appreciate the care and attention to detail he brings to his work. He refuses to treat patients with a partial effort or to settle for mediocrity for the sake of completion. Patient care is one of the things Dr. Andrew enjoys most about dentistry – he wants to show compassion and provide what is best for each patient’s well-being.
Hard work has been the foundation of Dr. Andrew’s life since he was a child. His work ethic and discipline translate into incredible results for his patients, and he cannot wait to see you and your beautiful smile.
